03.Nov.2009 Architectural Dressing

“Good architecture is like a piece of beautifully composed music crystallized in space that elevates our spirits beyond the limitation of time.” – Tao Ho.
Is the same not true of fashion? Its transformative powers propel themselves beyond the physical. From Dior’s New Look to the power dressing of the 80s, a beautiful item of clothing can define an era as much as an archetypal building. Whilst fashions of seasons past have left us looking like houses in a less-than-desirable way, Fall 2009 is all about strong foundations upon which bold, gravity-defying shapes are built.
Though one is born from blueprints and the other from patterns, their functional role is the same: to keep us warm and sheltered. But it is the creative aspect that compels us and inspires us. Why not look to architecture next time you are deciding what to wear?
